Super Quick One (Actually This Time)

Image
Hey all! This ones super quick, because my time has run clean out, but here's some of the people we're teaching: JJ, he's still awesome, and we've had a couple contacts with him. He also gave us some nice paintings as a gift. He's my favorite.  Elitzel is also someone we're teaching. She's always got super good questions, and we're just trying to get her to come to church. She's awesome. Martin is also awesome. He's been taught a while, with little major progress, but he's got such a sweet soul. He also came to church this Sunday! Woot! Thanks yall!  Èlder  Duncan Only playground for miles Palouse falls rocks. I'll hangglide here someday. Out here, trash is just burned. This was just a wood fire though.

Good Morning! This week was full of learning! I swear it was. I have to seriously dig to even remember what I did yesterday, so bare with me. We went on exchanges, so I was with Elder Borden for a day in Connell. We got free sodas in the morning, and in the afternoon cried with one of the older members who's had his world turned upside down. It reminded me of the covenant we make at Baptism, to mourn with those who mourn, to comfort those that stand in need of comfort.  Recently someone told us, 'the most helpful thing you can do for someone is to be there for them. A simple, "Hey, I know how you feel" We also had Zone conference, and a training from the president the next day focused on Goals!! Now, I swear that I'm going to have good goals, probably starting next week. Sunday whipped me. We were invited to teach at a mission preparation class, and I was tasked to teach young adults how to teach someone to pray. Once I started, the organization left my mind, and ...

Sunglasses, Water, And A Phone Call

Image
Hello family, Hello friends!  Some goofy things happened this week. Here's one: Before realizing he wasn't there, we pulled up to the house of our friend angel. We parked and called the number he gave us. The person who answered said they didn't know angel, but Elder Jacobs started up a conversation with them about what we do. A couple people were pulling out of this house giving us weird looks as they passed. We're fairly deep into the call when someone pulls up next to us. Elder Jacobs handed the phone to Elder Day, to talk to this person, and dropped his glasses as he was opening the door.  At this point two conversations are going on.  Then Elder Day spills his water while on the call. When Elder Jacobs finishes talking, he starts looking for the pieces of his broken glasses. Elder Day hands the phone back to clean up the water, so they're both hunched trying to clean up or get glasses all while we're still on this call. Then the person on the call brings hi...

Otro Día, Otro P-Day

Hellooooooo!! I think you'll find pleasing these good things to report from Basin City: Our friend JJ came to church before we'd even taught him a lesson. We met him while we were walking in Mesa (mee-suh). We pulled over the car to talk to his brother, then he came out and shook his finger at us for driving a car that some gang members he knew also drove. Then the next couple days, he was working on cleaning up the only store in town, which was recently burned down, and we kept saying hi and inviting him to church. He's wanted to change his life, so he came to church! We're going to teach him on Thursday. Out here there is a lot of farming, and a lot of people to work the farms. We pulled up to some farm labor housing where some guys were playing volleyball. Ricardo, Alejandro, and Luis let us join for a couple games, and we lost horribly. But afterwards, we got to talk to them about the gospel, and Luis told me about how he got there.  We gave a Bible to our friend Vi...
