Merrily We Roll Along

Good Nueva Semana a Todos!

As Nuestro Día de preparación roles around once again, I'm left in a neck and neck battle against time. I had it in the first half, not going to lie. But, as 6:00 approaches, the mailing crunch time begins.

This week, good things happened! Our friend Gerardo came to church! It's been over 6 months since the last time, he's just been packed with work.
Our friend Jaime is super awesome. When we met him, he told us he had grown a super strong testimony of going to church, because he first felt the spirit in a church building. He had also already talked with some missionaries before, and is very excited to learn! We gave him a book of mormon to read, and he seemed quite eager. He just can't come to church because he's packed with work Sunday mornings. He's got an awesome young family. Pray for Jaime to be able to find truth for him and his family!

We have been doing many of our studies at the nearby colleges, and I must say that Whitman colleges has some nice bushes!  And the people are nice, too. It's fun to bring a little smile to their faces when we say hi.

Many other rough things have happened, too. I think I must keep things real, at least a bit.

This week my testimony of the the scriptures has grown. I cannot really explain it completely, but I recently set a goal (a trial of its own) to finish the book of Mormon by the end of this transfer, because I saw someone else with that same goal and thought it was a good idea. One day, I had just sat down and read a couple chapters, and I was unusually invested in the story it was telling. When I finished, I just felt lighter. That's all I can say. It just brightened the rest of my day a little bit, enabling me to share that light with others.
This is not to say there's any one way to read the scriptures. It's to say that God has a way of speaking to you and me. What he requires of us is the faith to sit down, take a minute, and read the Book. Or pray. Or even just focus on God. I know for certain that there is power in that. And most certainly now. After 19 years (give or take) of reading this book, I'm only now coming to realize how simple it can be to exercise even just a particle of faith.
If you have doubts, just sit down and read the Book of Mormon. If you want to know for yourself, you can.

Nos vemos, mis queridos amigos,

Elder Duncan

Bowling in Pendleton!
A great picture I saw. Take time right now to appreciate what you have. As Forrest Frank says: "Gas tank is about on 'E', but I bet we can still make it to the beach and back"
