Frohes Neues Jahr!
Wait, I thought yesterday was P-Day...
This week, we had back to back exchanges friday and saturday, which means that i was with a different companion 2 days in a row. One of those days was in our area, Walla Walla, which meant i was in charge of making sure we got where we needed. That was tough. Planning stuff out is really tough for me, and then carrying out those plans is equally tough. But, that day i learned that i can make plans! Woot!
I also learned a lot about the other Elder, Elder Crowther, which was awesome. Getting to know new people actually might be one of my favorite things. (Maybe i could apply that to the work... hmm)
Personal study is one of the best parts of the day. Especially when things are really tough. But up until the mission, I never did any kind of Gospel study.
I'd always heard that the scriptures could become delicious, but that didn't appeal to me. But, after taking an hour each day for studying the word of God, it has become something I crave. Its never even the same thing every day, either.
Very recently i found a page on the Atonement that i highly recommend. Its in Gospel library under "Gospel Topics and Questions" and "Jesus Christ's atonement" It opened my eyes to the scope of what Christ did for each of us. Especially the talk in there by Dallin H Oaks under that title.
The yo-yo in the apartment has become a new favorite pass-time for all of us.
Elder Keller jammed his finger playing basketball, and we thought it was broken. However, a splint and a couple days later, its all good.
Spiritual thought:
Yesterday was cleaning again. Scrubbed the bathroom tub, toilet and floor, and then scrubbed the kitchen floor too. Super satisfying when it's all done. We have house inspections tomorrow.
I just made the connection that repentance is kind of like that. We might acquire spiritual dirt little by little, but each day, we can sweep and vacuum and be good for the next day. But (and this seems to be a huge problem for missionary apartments), when nothing gets cleaned for weeks, you've got to put in a lot more effort all at once to get the house clean.
Çiao!

Just one picture this week. This was set up New Years party in the church.
