First Gun Pull!

Hey y'all! I apologize, I've got to cut this email a bit short, I've not got much time to spare! The routine is starting to set I'm. Wake up, gym, study, lunch, proselyte, dinner, sleep, repeat. It's also getting tougher, with all this repetition. I often can't remember what I did yesterday (that's not really new though =D). I gave my first talk on Sunday! This time I managed to write the whole 10 minute talk and be done 30 minutes before church. It was very different speaking though, because there were so few people in the congregation. It was actually kind of fun to give. That Sunday night, we approached a guys house, and he wasn't happy we were there at first. We had a bit of small talk, about football, and what he'd done that day, when he said he'd made an apple cobbler. Then he offered to give us some! As he walked away I noticed the gun in his hand that he'd been holding, and my heart skipped a beat or two.  I guess he thought we were c...

Washington!!

Hola!  This past week has been a fantastic adjustment to the mission field! I can't even remember everything that's happened since my last email. I wasn't able to get an email out last week though, as my P-day has switched in the mission field. The last week in the CCM was muy chido. the last couple days were similar feeling to the last days of school. Our schedule was still packed, but I was saying goodbye to people by Sunday night. Then, on Monday night I had to say goodbye to my beloved district 9A. Tuesday I was with a temporary companion, and we had an epic time. It was quite chaotic getting plane tickets and such sorted out, but we got to end off the day watching a live broadcast from the Provo MTC (mi hogar!) of Dieter F. Uchtdorf. And who was directing the missionary choir there but none other than Dr. Mendenhall! That's two times now I watched a livestream at the CCM with him in it! (He rocks) Arriving in Washington was very chill. As we got off the plane, we s...

Safe Arrival Letter

Dear Family, We are thrilled to inform you that your missionary has arrived safely to the mission field.  Elder Duncan appears to be healthy, and in good spirits, and seems eager to get to work. He will be meeting his Trainer today, and then after some orientation and training, will be traveling with his companion to their new area this evening.  Thank you so much for raising your son in such a way that he is willing and worthy to serve a mission.  Elder Duncan is in good hands!  His Preparation Day will be on Tuesdays.  He will also let you know, in advance, if a Preparation Day changes due to a Federal Holiday or a special temple visit. Along with your missionary’s photo with President and Sister Quereto, I have attached a letter from Elder Henry explaining how we handle the mail in the mission. Do not hesitate to email or call if you have any questions or concerns, as we are here to ensure that your missionary is happy, healthy, and successful. Warm Regards! ...

Sick Conference!

Hola! The last week has been great! I'm getting further and further prepared to head to Washington! I'm heading out next Wednesday, the 16th First, on Friday morning, we had the opportunity to sing to the incoming missionaries the song that our district had been preparing. It was an arrangment of the FSY medley. We were surprised to have gotten the opportunity to play, because our audition hadn't been our best run through. Then the morning of, everyone was a little sick, but we said a prayer before, and the spirit was there in that performance. The new missionaries said they quite enjoyed it. The big one: CONFERENCE! Woot! This conference was amazing. I was able to stay awake the whole time with help from my comps, and I took a whole lot of notes. I really enjoyed Elder Budge's talk about being still. It was a great reminder to me that just as it's important to talk to God when we pray, it's just as important to take time and listen. I pictured a Zen room, simil...

2 Weeks Left Of CCM And Going Strong!

Image
Hola a Todos de Mexico! The days are really blending together, for serious. I can't remember what I had for breakfast, or even what I did yesterday. Thankfully, the journal is coming in clutch. I apologize in advance for the lack of organization or flow in this email This past week has been really great. My comps and I played volleyball a couple times with a district in our zone, and that was super fun. It's my first time I've played since Jr High Gym class, and I learned that it's pretty easy to pick up! 10/10 reccommend playing, especially if the people you're playing with are also new to it. On sunday, my comps, Elder Gabbitas, Elder Stuart and I sang barbershop tags in the laundry room; "when I leave the world behind" and "the old prairie" One of the districts here had a pizza eating competition on saturday, achieving 93 slices between 10 guys. The administration gave us a stern talking to about food competitions the next day in the leader...
